Delivered by Alliance member Excelfore, in partnership with Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, the program reportedly represents a landmark validation of open, standards-based OTA software updates and remote diagnostics.

The Tata Sierra has been engineered from inception as a software-defined vehicle, with OTA update capability and remote diagnostics embedded as core architectural elements rather than retrofit additions. Its OTA infrastructure is an implementation of eSync Alliance specifications, with remote diagnostics enabled through an implementation of ASAM’s Service-Oriented Vehicle Diagnostics specification, reflecting the ongoing collaboration between the eSync Alliance and ASAM to develop and publish models for how the two standards can be deployed together.

Autonomous vehicles present a solution to the deficit that threatens service reliability and prevents the expansion of transit networks.

For the first time in Norway, the Norwegian Public Roads Administration has granted permission for an autonomous bus to run on on regular public routes without a safety driver behind the wheel. Transportation operators Vy and Kolumbus will operate the bus, a Karsan autonomous e-ATAK.

While the vehicle’s autonomous driving software is delivered by AdasTec, Applied Autonomy’s xFlow system acts as the digital control tower.

University of Glasgow and Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh conducted a study for TransiT, a national UK research hub using digital twins to identify the fastest, lowest-cost pathways to transportation decarbonization in the UK.

The work highlights major challenges to the operation of driverless vehicles and digital twins – digital replicas of objects, processes or systems in the physical world that are increasingly being used to improve the efficiency and sustainability of transportation through functions including predictive maintenance and route optimization.

The system integrates Silicon Labs’ ultra-low-power BG22 Bluetooth LE SoC into BANF’s in-tire sensor platform, turning the tire into a connected intelligence node.

Traditional tire pressure monitoring systems alert drivers only when pressure drops significantly, offering limited insight into tire performance. BANF’s solution, by contrast, measures acceleration, pressure, temperature and tread depth at thousands of samples per second inside the tire. Key signals – such as wheel-nut loosening, slip events or reduced friction – are processed within the tire, reducing communication load and improving response time before sending alerts to the vehicle.

The presentation at Embedded World 2026 in Nuremberg, Germany, was the first live demonstration of real-time sensor data acquisition and pre-processing on silicon, the companies said. The system has been designed to support next-generation advanced driver assist systems and automated driving.

The new solution combines a new ZF I/O interface chip with SiliconAuto’s XMotiv M3 microcontroller, which functions as a safety controller. The architecture offers an alternative to monolithic System-on-Chip (SoC) designs, providing scalability, energy efficiency and cost-effective performance. It also remains agnostic to OEMs’ choice of performance SoC, integrating through standardized high-speed interfaces such as PCIe or Ethernet.
