The afternoon session of the conference on the first day at Autonomous Vehicle Tech Expo began with an update from Sophie Pohlmann, head of portfolio management at MOIA, which first began testing self-driving ID. Buzz prototypes on public roads in Hamburg in 2023, with passenger service trials beginning the following year.
In a presentation titled ‘How customers drive the change towards a new mobility era’, Pohlmann argued that we are entering a critical phase in which customer lifetime value, acceptance and trust are as important as technological capability.
“As autonomous driving and new mobility services evolve, customer journeys are becoming more complex and increasingly shaped by ecosystems rather than single vehicles,” she said.
Pohlmann explored how customer needs, perceptions and behaviors influence the validation and successful deployment of Level 2-4 autonomous technologies and noted that autonomous driving will enable new customer segments and use cases, including integrated wheelchair accessible services.
“My key message was to introduce MOIA to the audience here at the show in Stuttgart, and our overall goal of introducing robotaxis [for shared mobility] – this is why I’m here today. There have been a lot of presentations about sensors and simulation, but MOIA’s approach is a little bit different, where we are seeking to put customers at the forefront to have a product that really serves the people. We’re not in a testing environment for autonomous driving anymore – we can see it across the world.”
