Europe’s leading event for accelerating scalable end-to-end ADAS/AV development and deployment has returned to the Messe Stuttgart. Taking place May 20, 21 & 22, it’s an opportunity for visitors to uncover new solutions to advance technological innovation and enhance competitive edge. Meanwhile, the conference is enabling critical discussions on challenges and opportunities, and features contributions from OEMs, tech innovators and regulators.
Launched in 2015, ADAS & Autonomous Vehicle Technology Expo has evolved to meet industry demand for accelerated product and technological development and reduced costs, all while complying with standards and stringent regulations. Above all, it highlights how the mobility sector is being transformed with the rise of 5G, AI and edge computing. Leading suppliers and disrupters are showcasing their latest products, technologies and services to accelerate scalable end-to-end ADAS and AD development and deployment, improve quality and safety and reduce costs.
The busy expo highlights that the mobility industry is undergoing rapid transformation, with advanced ADD safety features becoming standard and self-driving systems increasingly being deployed globally. The simulation toolchain is also evolving to address the complexities of using virtual testing to radically reduce real-world validation and verification.
This industry-leading event is focused on the technologies and trends propelling ADAS and automated driving innovation, with emphasis on AI and SDV topics such as connectivity, sensor fusion, cloud and edge computing, simulation tools, digital twins, deep learning and AI-driven scenario generation.
Exhibitors are demonstrating scalable virtual worlds for AV/ADAS testing and validation; low-latency, low-power sensor and video compression; realistic simulation through real-world data and GenAI; next-gen synthetic data for in-cabin AI and ADAS development; and more.
Exhibitor reactions
IPG Automotive is exhibiting at the show. According to senior global sales strategy manager, Jan Oberst, the company’s new cloud-based simulation workflow manages a large amount of data and simplifies and scales simulations for virtual vehicle development. Explaining IPG’s presence at the show, director of product management Alexander Frings added that, “The trade fair enables us to develop potential partnerships, driving the mobility of the future.”
Elsewhere on the show floor, Autonoma’s vice president of sales, Kyle Connor, said, “As part of this global gathering, we’re excited to connect with leaders seeking faster development and collaboration through simulation.” The company is showcasing Copilot, a standout feature of AutoVerse – its active digital twin simulation platform that uses a natural language interface. Connor explained that this “makes simulation more accessible – and more strategic – than ever before”.
Live demonstrator vehicles
Visitors can also book rides in live demonstrator vehicles to experience technology from Gentex, Adasky and Seyond, including cutting-edge lidars that enable a full 350° field of view, innovative VGA and QVGA thermal ADAS cameras, and detection software.
Live Zone!
The ADAS/AVT Live Zone is an exciting new addition to this year’s expo, where speakers are presenting technologies, concepts, strategies and ideas in a business-focused environment. Day 1 speakers have included Morai, IPG Automotive, MathWorks, rFpro and Deepen AI, with topics covering the calibration and validation of ADAS; scenario-based simulation and testing using CarMaker and RoadRunner; collaborative validation for full autonomy: harnessing simulation and digital twins; and more. On Wednesday, May 21, Live Zone 1 will host the GAIA-X4-PLC-AAD final project results presentations – a free-to-attend mini-conference where the various project partners will discuss their contributions to building a European decentralized data ecosystem for ADAS and AD validation.
Conference and awards
The main conference (rates apply) will feature sessions covering AI, software and architecture, vision and sensing, and other transformative developments. Delegates will hear how these technologies can be proven and trusted to be safely deployed. Presenters will include senior experts from Waymo, Carnegie Mellon University, Stellantis, BMW and Cariad.
The new ADAS & Autonomous Vehicle International Awards ceremony will take place at 16:30hrs on May 21, celebrating the innovations shaping the future of advanced driver-assistance systems and autonomous vehicles. Categories include Vehicle Deployment of the Year, Engineering Team of the Year and Disrupter of the Year.
Meanwhile, in Halls 8 and 10, Automotive Testing Expo is featuring the latest advances in automotive testing, development, validation and quality engineering, helping visitors to address challenges amid market volatility.
