ADAS & Autonomous Vehicle Technology Summit North America has opened at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center in California (August 27).
International leaders in automated driving, including OEMs, technology innovators, suppliers, academics, government and regulatory bodies, have gathered to explore the key topics propelling scalable end-to-end ADAS/AV development and deployment. Topics being covered at the summit include public acceptance and trust; regulatory frameworks and standards; developments in AI, software and data analytics; safety innovations and best practices; connectivity; cybersecurity; and ethical issues. The show has evolved to meet the industry’s need to accelerate scalable end-to-end ADAS/AV development and deployment, enhance safety and reduce costs, all while complying with standards and stringent regulations.
Exhibition
At the exhibition, established suppliers and disrupters are highlighting their latest products, technologies, trends and services to help accelerate test and validation programs, whether that’s developing new vehicles, robotaxis, off-highway vehicles, last-mile delivery vehicles, autonomous trucks, social mobility and micromobility vehicles or autonomous shuttles. On display are technologies for connectivity, sensor fusion, cloud and edge computing, simulation tools, digital twins, deep learning and AI-driven scenario generation, data analysis, vehicle positioning and localization. Exhibitors include OXTS, RunSafe Security, AB Dynamics, Xylon, Genesys, Rohde & Schwarz and Keysight Technologies.
Highlights include Deontic’s generative AI platform, which accelerates operational design domain (ODD) validation through advanced natural language processing, agent-based automation and deep integration with numerous simulation tools and standards such as OpenScenario and OpenDrive. On the OXTS booth, the company is explaining how sensor fusion is key to unlocking the potential of GNSS-denied navigation. Xylon is giving live demonstrations of its HIL setup for ZF’s forward-facing Smart Camera 6 – using raw and synthetic sensory data. Visitors to Rohde & Schwarz’s booth can see a test bench for real-world sensor fusion ADAS/AV HIL testing with partner IPG.
Running on both days of the show, the Open Tech Forum will feature presentations including Gapwaves’ radar sensor design with gap waveguide antenna technology for improved ADAS and AD. Safety Innovation of the Year award winner HAAS Alert will also deliver a presentation.
Women in Automotive Technology will host a networking lunch during the show. The organization’s president and co-founder, Linda Campbell, said, “In my work leading Women in Automotive Technology, I see every day how critical it is to connect women across roles, companies and ecosystems – and to amplify their voices.”
Conference
Meanwhile, the main conference features sessions covering AI, software and architecture, vision and sensing and other transformative developments. Delegates will hear how these technologies can be proved and trusted to be safely deployed. Contributors include Waymo, Plus, Zoox, Carnegie Mellon University, Torc Robotics, Uber, AWS, IBM, California DMV, PAVE, Woven by Toyota, GM and Nissan.
