Isuzu Motors has selected the technology, which is designed to detect the condition of tires, vehicles and road surfaces, for its new Giga heavy-duty truck, with Sensing Core’s wheel detachment prediction detection system coming as standard in the October 2025 updated version of the vehicle.

Sensing Core technology

Sensing Core is a software technology that analyzes wheel speed data generated by tire rotation, together with CAN data (vehicle control information) transmitted through the vehicle’s control system, to detect various tire and road conditions, including tire pressure, tire wear, tire load and signs of potential wheel detachment.

Keene has been named in the King’s Birthday Honours List 2025.

Autonomous luggage operations

The Warwickshire-based entrepreneur was recognized for the launch of Auto-DollyTug – an autonomous vehicle that is moving luggage and cargo around six airports across the world. Designed, developed and built at the firm’s Advanced Engineering Centre in Coventry, the electric powered tugs promise to “cut emissions, increase operational performance and, most importantly, improve passenger experience,” Aurrigo says.

Initially it was a small outbuilding on the company’s production site in Sunderland, but after moving to a facility in Cranfield the NTCE has expanded to become one of Nissan’s major global R&D facilities with 1,000 employees.

One of the focus areas at the site is autonomous driving and following the company’s initial involvement in the HumanDrive and ServCity projects, the latest to use its battery-electric Leaf is EvolvAD.

With funding from the UK government through its Innovate UK agency and the Centre for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CCAV), the EvolvAD project is being run by a consortium of industry partners.

The researchers in Canada also made suggestions for many exciting types of in-car games for future exploration.

“As autonomous vehicles start to replace conventional vehicles, occupants will have much more free time than they used to,” said Matthew Lakier, a PhD student in Waterloo’s David R Cheriton School of Computer Science. “You could use time spent in commute to read a book, watch a movie, get ahead on work, or browse the internet.

The investment was led by Eclipse Ventures, with participation from Balderton Capital and existing investors Compound, Fly Ventures and FirstMinute Capital as well as several undisclosed, preeminent leaders in machine learning and robotics.

Wayve believes that the complexity of self-driving cars will be solved by better artificial intelligence ‘brains,’ not by more physical sensors and hand-coded rules. Launched in Cambridge, UK – arguably the birthplace of modern computing and artificial intelligence – and recently relocated to London, Wayve is the first European self-driving car company to attract premier Silicon Valley venture capital funding to lead a Series A investment.

For the first time, basic perception can be distributed to the edge of the sensor network. This enables autonomous designers to use sensors to not only search and detect objects, but also to acquire, and ultimately to classify and track these objects. AEye adds that the ability to collect this information in real time both enables and enhances existing centralized perception software platforms by reducing latency, lowering costs and securing functional safety.

This state-of-the-art sensor is said to generate high-quality perception in a wide variety of light conditions, with advanced sensor-to-sensor interference mitigation, power efficiency and thermal performance.

Providing long-range detection of low reflectance objects, the Alpha Prime enables autonomous operation within a broad range of settings, including urban and highway environments. Velodyne further describes it as a culmination of more than a decade of experience in engineering and manufacturing lidar, enabling the Alpha Prime to power safe autonomy.

Key features of the horizontal (360°) and vertical (40°) long-range sensor include high resolution (0.2° x 0.1°) and point density at full frame rate; proprietary sensor-to-sensor interference mitigation; strong performance with retro reflectors and sunlight; and new power efficiencies for maximum operating temperature.
