For the fourth consecutive time, PoliMOVE has won the Indy Autonomous Challenge (IAC), which was held at the team’s home circuit, the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza in Italy.
Five teams from universities in the USA, Canada, South Korea, Germany and Italy all competed in the race, with PoliMOVE from the Politecnico di Milano coming out on top. Tum Motorsport from the Technical University of Munich (TUM) achieved second place, while team TII UniMORE from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia came third.
Unlike the previous Las Vegas and Texas races which were held on an oval track, the Monza round saw the teams compete on a road course.
“Winning on our very prestigious F1 home circuit was satisfying, especially after the many technical problems we had in the weeks leading up to the race. [This] forced us to compete with a mock-up car [which had never been used] in a race [before],” commented Sergio Savaresi, professor of automatics at Politecnico di Milano.
