Virtual reality and its role in testing and validation of autonomous vehicles

LinkedIn +

Safety is a paramount concern in the roll-out of autonomous vehicles, and to test and validate every possible scenario, virtual reality is key.

Ansys, which creates 3D design software, has released a video demonstrating how its solution can help provide a complete design and simulation package for AVs.

The software is able to simulate lidar and sensors, functional safety, and safety-critical embedded code. Ansys’s virtual reality software enables high repeatability, which reduces physical road testing requirements, as well as time and cost, for developers.
