Ooono has launched its community-led Co-driver NO2 traffic camera and road hazard warning device in the UK.
Around one in three traffic collisions occur due to distractions, and with touchscreen infotainment systems now dominating car design, Ooono has developed a solution designed to address this problem.
Co-driver products have rolled out across Europe, with four million devices sold in Germany. The Danish company is targeting the UK to further build its community of drivers, contributing to collective intelligence.
The solution aims to connect drivers and share traffic information so that motorists can be notified of road traffic ahead.
Beauty in simplicity
According to a study by the Transport Research Laboratory (TRL), interacting with car screens while driving can be more distracting than drink or drug driving.
Ooono removes the screen and instead uses one device with one button, and a clear audible and visual alert. The Co-driver NO2 connects to smartphones and delivers real-time alerts on speed safety cameras (fixed, mobile, average, red-light), roadworks, temporary hazards, as well as accidents and obstructions. It also integrates with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Ooono’s community can report and verify incidents. This shared data model means faster, more reliable warnings than traditional navigation apps.
UK chief operating officer Sean Morris said, “This is a game-changer for motorists and UK road safety. With popular navigation apps, drivers can easily miss road hazards, police or safety cameras ahead, and adding alerts often becomes horrendously distracting hidden behind various sub-menus. Most people don’t even switch their maps on just to pop to the shops. Co-Driver is different. It’s always on, using a simple button and audio beep system to keep drivers focused.

Speeding remains one of the biggest dangers on UK roads, with enforcement ramping up nationwide.
The solution is designed to help drivers navigate shifting speed zones, roadworks, mobile enforcement and changing road conditions. By providing real-time alerts about cameras and hazards, it moves beyond static maps and preprogrammed zones, offering dynamic support to reduce the risk of fines and improve road awareness.
