Production of the company’s autonomous vehicles will begin shortly at a facility in Power Park, Coventry.

The new site measures over 12,000m2, more than three times the size of the firm’s current facility, and will serve as its UK hub for advanced engineering, autonomous vehicle development, high-volume manufacturing and ongoing automotive activities.

This expansion supports Aurrigo’s recently launched international hub and licensing program, which aims to accelerate the company’s global commercialization strategy by seeking local relationships, funding and manufacturing support in Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia and the US.

“Autonomous technology has remarkable potential to make transportation safer and more affordable,” said Dara Khosrowshahi, CEO of Uber. “Innovation in autonomy is moving quickly, but meaningful commercialization will take much longer. For more than a decade, Uber has helped set the standard for on-demand mobility, and built the capabilities that make ‘push a button and get a ride’ work at global scale. With Uber Autonomous Solutions, we’re externalizing these hard-won competencies for our partners.”

Uber Autonomous Solutions provides the capabilities required for end-to-end commercialization, reducing cost per mile while increasing speed to market.
