The challenge for OEMs and their suppliers is that these systems must work reliably across a vast range of real-world conditions and testing them physically is slow, expensive and limited in scope.

To address this, rFpro has launched the AV Elevate In Cabin add-on package, which enables automotive OEMs, Tier 1s and sensor developers to tune, train and test driver and occupant monitoring systems in simulation to improve the speed and consistency of in-cabin testing.

Chinese auto maker Xpeng commissioned independent research agency Improof Research to conduct a quantitative study of public attitudes toward artificial intelligence and physical AI across six European countries, alongside a reference sample from major Chinese cities. The survey fieldwork was carried out between May 1 and 14, 2026.

First piloted in 2023, these small, privacy-protective smart traffic monitoring sensors count pedestrians, cyclists, buses and vehicles to assess patterns in how people use the streets. Sensors will be installed at approximately 80 additional locations across the five boroughs to accelerate data-driven street safety improvements.

“Safer street design starts with understanding what is actually happening on the street,” said Flynn. “These high-tech sensors will help us evaluate how people are walking, biking and driving so we can design safer streets and encourage safer behavior.”

Building on the successful pilot, NYC DOT will this year scale up a technology that has already transformed how the agency measures traffic activity.

Centimeter-level positioning depends on continuous carrier phase lock. When that lock is interrupted – a routine occurrence in dense cities, under tree cover and in multipath-heavy environments – receivers suffer cycle slips and force the system to reinitialize. For advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), automated driving and robotics, these interruptions are the defining barrier to deployment at scale.

According to the company, Precise+ uses Focal Point’s Supercorrelation for precise global navigation satellite system (GNSS) positioning, improving performance in challenging environments: sub-meter performance in conditions where commercial receivers with live corrections deliver multimeter errors.

The 15km toll road, which climbs through the forested mountains of Kanagawa Prefecture, is widely used by Japanese vehicle manufacturers for vehicle dynamics development. The model is commercially available and has already been adopted by a major Japanese OEM.

“Vehicle manufacturers are being asked to bring new models to market faster, at lower cost and with more variants than ever, and the only way to do that is to move more of their development work into simulation,” said Catherine Wood, head of content at rFpro.

Rev8 sensor compatibility with Nvidia Drive Hyperion

Ouster pairs hardware readiness with full-stack software compatibility, featuring optimized plug-ins for its entire sensor portfolio within the Nvidia DriveWorks SDK. By bridging these layers, its high-density point clouds can be ingested directly into Nvidia’s hardware-accelerated software stack, providing automotive developers with a streamlined path from initial development to full-scale deployment.

Longer-range, native-color sensors for high-speed autonomy

Featuring what Ouster describes as the world’s first native-color lidar, Rev8 reportedly provides the high-quality data necessary to train next-generation world models and enable safer autonomous navigation at scale.
