Spirent Communications and Anritsu have announced a strategic partnership to address the unique testing requirements of cellular vehicle-to-everything (C-V2X) and autonomous driving technologies.

This collaboration aims to establish a comprehensive C-V2X and automotive 5G testing portfolio, providing a unified framework for efficient verification of designs that incorporate autonomous driving technologies. By combining the automotive testing expertise of both companies, the collaboration offers the connected vehicle ecosystem access to a broad portfolio of solutions, aiming to reduce setup and training costs and support future 5G developments effectively.

Aniket Khosla, VP of cloud and IP product management at Spirent, said the company intended to set new standards in automotive and connected vehicle testing by providing customers with a unified source for powerful test solutions. The collaboration seeks to address the challenges posed by the rapidly evolving autonomous driving landscape and contribute to the industry’s advancement with confidence.

Anritsu and Spirent share a commitment to support the innovation of connected vehicles,” said Robert Johnson, VP and GM of Anritsu. The collaboration, he continued, aims to offer complete solutions for advanced use cases, including automated driving, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), LTE-V2X (PC5), and vehicle-to-network communication (V2N), contributing to the development of a safe mobility society.

The Spirent C-V2X test solution has comprehensive AD/V2X testing capabilities, covering conformance, application and performance assessments for C-V2X devices in real-world scenarios. The solution also offers an option to incorporate Spirent’s leading multi-GNSS, multi-frequency simulation capabilities. The solution offers compatibility with regional intelligent transportation systems (ITS) protocols in the USA, EU and China; and includes eight transceivers to effectively emulate congestion scenarios.

Anritsu’s V2N solution uses a 5G Uu interface, offering full-layer tests with capabilities such as RF parametric assessments, antenna over-the-air (OTA) performance evaluations, protocol verification and functional key performance indicators (KPIs). The solution enables end-to-end (E2E) connectivity to emulate V2N and V2N2V use cases for leading 5G in-vehicle services that support 3GPP release 16/17 features, and models specific network behaviors, including negative scenarios that replicate real-world field conditions.
