Having signed a comprehensive strategic partnership on January 17, 2023, Horizon Robotics, a provider of energy-efficient computing solutions for ADAS in China, and Guangzhou Automotive Group (GAC) AION, a premium Chinese electric vehicle brand, will now jointly develop advanced driving assistance products.

Having shipped more than 2,000,000 of its Journey series processor units across many automotive brands in China, Horizon Robotics will work to help AION meet consumer demand for high-quality mobility while facilitating a safer and more convenient experience for vehicle occupants.

Under the agreement, AION will develop a series of car models that will be powered by Horizon Robotics’ Journey processors, which feature advanced automated driving and interactive in-cabin functions. AION already has a mass-production vehicle model built on Journey 2. Both companies will also explore the feasibility of cooperation on development centered around Journey series solutions, including Journey 5.

The strategic partnership builds on the duo’s previous successes and expands the partnership from in-cabin applications to driving assistance products. AION Y (which was launched in April 2021) is powered by Horizon Robotics’ Journey 2 solutions and provides consumers with a safe and interactive in-cabin experience.

Horizon Robotics will continue to enable AION’s innovation by providing its integrated software and hardware solutions, flexible open services and experience in mass production. Both parties aim to bring advanced driver assistance functions to more consumers in China to enhance the driving experience.
