The speaker line-up for the Autonomous Vehicle Test & Development Symposium in October in Novi, MI, is already shaping up to be the biggest and best yet. The first wave of speakers includes experts from OEMs such as GM, Fiat-Chrysler and Renault; software and computing giants including Siemens, Intel and Nvidia; and research organizations such as Virginia Tech.

Even though the event is still more than three months away, 23 experts have already been confirmed to speak at the Autonomous Vehicle Test & Development Symposium, which will take place at Autonomous Vehicle Technology Expo in Novi, MI, on October 22, 23 and 24. The final line-up will see more than 45 industry leaders discussing the latest issues in driverless vehicles and ADAS – and the innovations that will solve them.

Curtis Hay, technical fellow at General Motors, will be taking a closer look at the ways we can ensure that map and GNSS data are reliable. He will describe some of the key attributes that must be measured before these inputs can be provided to the vehicle sensor fusion controller.

A big theme in the world of AV and ADAS development is simulation. Kevin Williams, enterprise automotive manager at Nvidia, will discuss the creation of a unique virtual AV test fleet in the cloud. Tony Gioutsos, director of portfolio development for autonomous Americas, will introduce a massive validation and verification framework that combines data management, test automation and results post-processing capabilities.

Real-world data and testing remain essential, however, so Henning Lategahn, CEO of Atlatec, will present a way to extract a high-fidelity road model and traffic scenarios from real-world data. This scenario description can then be used in popular ADAS simulators. Taking testing to the proving ground, Igor Doric, executive director of Messring, will introduce the company’s latest pedestrian target which is designed to accurately replicate human motion.

Further highlights include FCA’s Neil Garbacik, who will define 12 guiding principles of safe automated driving development for SAE Level 3 and Level 4 automated driving systems, and Renault’s expert leader for immersive simulation and VR, Andras Kemeny, who will stress the importance of driver-in-the-loop simulation for autonomous vehicle validation.

In short, the Autonomous Vehicle Test & Development Symposium is covering all the bases in the development of safe and effective autonomous vehicles and ADAS. The full list of speakers, complete with synopses of their presentations, can be found at autonomousvehiclesymposium.com.

More speakers are announced all the time, so keep an eye on the speaker list page and stand by for the full program. To book your conference pass, click here.
