As cities strive to combat traffic congestion, enhance public safety and reduce pollution, a remarkable transformation has taken place within the public transportation sector — integration of AI-powered in-vehicle computers. Nexcom is at the forefront of this revolution, and is excited to introduce its latest innovation: the VTC 7270-C8, a game-changer that is enabling bus services to deliver a safer, more efficient and enhanced driving experience.

Safety imperative: Elevating public transportation safety
Safety is the paramount concern in public transportation. Buses, often navigating congested urban environments, demand advanced systems to mitigate accidents and protect passengers, pedestrians and other road users. Traditional onboard systems have struggled to respond dynamically to real-time traffic conditions and unforeseen obstacles.

The Nexcom VTC 7270-C8 is a solution designed to ensure public safety with its impressive capabilities:

  • Employs the latest 12/13th Generation Intel® Core i Processor, offering 30% more computing power than its predecessor.
  • Supports up to eight IP cameras through PoE+ ports, continuously recording and analyzing passenger and driver states via 5G upload.
  • Utilizes GNSS and dead reckoning, coupled with duel LTE/5G and dual wi-fi for seamless connectivity.
  • Harnesses Intel OpenVINO and Intel Deep Learning Boost to accelerate high-performance image recognition, empowering ADAS to identify, recognize and predict abnormalities via video surveillance.

These AI-powered in-vehicle computers equip buses with intelligence, enabling them to analyze complex data from sensors, cameras and other sources, making split-second decisions that optimize safety. They can predict an event by calculating the time until a possible collision and can trigger warnings to alert drivers with lights and sounds, as well as send real-time alerts to the central control unit if pedestrians or intrusions enter the blind spot or a danger zone.

Turn into multi devices as MADT, 5G Router, Ticketing, and Fleet Management
As urbanization continues to surge, cities are confronted with mounting traffic congestion and environmental concerns. The VTC 7270 series takes on these challenges head-on by serving as:

The Optimal Data Gateway: Our systems allocate multiple mPCIe and M.2 slots to accommodate communication modules, including LTE, 5G, and wi-fi 6E, enabling seamless real-time data communication across diverse applications from collecting in-vehicle data.

Fleet Management: Supports CANbus to access ECU information such as vehicle speed, fuel volume, via GNSS and 5G, resulting in real-time driver monitoring and bus schedule information and digital passenger information at bus stops. Optimizes route planning and driving behavior, enabling smart public transit and intelligent traffic systems (ITS).

Ticketing System: Supports RS232/422/485 ports for streamlined communication and data exchange and GPIO interaction with external components, devices and sensors for functions, work as ticketing machines. The unit enables support for both cash and cashless transactions, including bus ticketing payment systems and cash receipt printers.

Nexcom’s upgraded telematics computer, the VTC 7270-C8, empowers vehicles to drive toward a smarter city, delivering powerful ONE computing and efficient management for urban transportation.

Always Moving Forward with Nexcom
Nexcom’s Mobile Computing Solutions (MCS) extend and develop products for AI, 5G and safety-related applications. It is committed to creating a safer working environment, reducing operational costs, and promoting edge AI computing for ADAS, AMR and autonomous driving, as it helps shape the future of urban mobility.

Experience the revolution in urban transportation with Nexcom. Contact the company today to learn more about how its AI-powered in-vehicle computers can elevate bus services to new heights of safety, efficiency and passenger satisfaction.
