Watch Honda’s autonomous work vehicle in action

Autonomous vehicles are not only to be found on public roads – Honda has created an off-road ATV that employs advanced autonomous technology, making it ideal for commercial and consumer uses such as construction, agriculture, and firefighting.

First unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in 2018, Honda has continued to develop the vehicle, evaluating its capabilities as an autonomous work vehicle. Working with Colorado’s wildland firefighting division, it has released a video of the ATV in action, showing its ability to carry heavy equipment including chainsaws and water packs and to follow firefighters across steep terrain, work which would typically fatigue a firefighter.

Other use-case videos released by Honda show the vehicle autonomously irrigating crops in agricultural fields to help increase efficiency and reduce labor costs.
