Sony Semiconductor Solutions has announced that it will use rFpro’s AV Elevate to showcase its next-generation camera sensor technologies for ADAS and AV applications. It will use the simulation platform to demonstrate the performance and capabilities of its technologies before any physical prototypes are manufactured.

The announcement follows the technical collaboration between the two companies, first announced in 2023, which focused on integrating high-fidelity sensor models into rFpro’s simulation software.

“AV Elevate has been a critical tool in showcasing our new technologies to the industry,” said Tomoki Seita, general manager, automotive strategy department, automotive business division, Sony Semiconductor Solutions. “By leveraging AV Elevate, we can effectively demonstrate our camera technologies earlier in the development process, accelerating our innovation and enabling us to deliver higher-quality products to the market. The local technical support from the rFpro teams in Japan and Europe enhances this easy-to-use and highly effective solution, supporting our growth and commitment to excellence.”

AV Elevate is an advanced simulation platform designed for the tuning, training and testing of ADAS and AV perception systems. It enables engineering-grade synthetic training data and facilitates closed-loop testing of the entire ADAS and AV technology stack, significantly improving the safety, efficiency and cost-effectiveness of vehicle development.

“It’s fantastic to see our relationship with Sony grow from technical collaboration to real-world application,” added Matt Daley, technical director at rFpro. “They’re pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with image sensor technology, and AV Elevate gives them the capability to demonstrate this earlier and more cost-effectively. This is exactly the kind of innovation we built AV Elevate to support.”
