The agreement sees the tire maker acquire a 24.99% equity stake in the company, with an option to increase its holding to 100%, and grants Pirelli a licence to use RIDEsense’s virtual sensor technology. The company said the collaboration is a further step in the Cyber Tyre ecosystem’s role within advanced driver assistance systems and autonomous driving systems.

Combining Pirelli Cyber Tyre’s physical sensors with RIDEsense’s virtual sensors (algorithms that process data from sensors already installed in vehicles) will broaden the system’s contribution to vehicle safety electronics, the tire maker said, and strengthen existing functions such as aquaplaning detection and enable new capabilities in tire and vehicle diagnostics.

The company will deploy its corner radar suite, including both hardware and embedded software, for the auto maker’s L2+ and L3 system.

The latest generation of radar has been engineered to enable essential life-saving features, including automatic emergency braking (AEB), lane keeping assist (LKA) as well as safe exit protection (SEP). Valeo’s radar system can also support eyes-off functions that could be added over-the-air by the OEM at a later date.

“This landmark win with a major North American auto maker validates the unrivaled performance of our next-generation radar in the most demanding environments,” said Marc Vrecko, CEO of Valeo Brain Division.

ISA, which uses camera and GPS data to read speed limit signs and communicate the prevailing limit to the driver, became mandatory on new vehicles sold in the UK and European Union from July 2024. The technology has the potential to reduce road casualties by helping drivers remain within posted speed limits. However, Thatcham Research’s findings suggest the current regulatory framework can leave gaps in how performance is captured, which may reduce driver confidence and lead some to disengage the system.

Drawing on more than two decades of Aptiv experience in occupant detection, AOC is an advanced software solution that leverages artificial intelligence and computer vision to accurately classify occupants based on parameters such as height, weight and body position. This enables optimized airbag deployment decisions while significantly reducing system complexity and cost for auto makers, the technology company said.

“Aptiv’s AOC represents a strategic leap forward in cabin innovation,” said Matthew Cole, senior vice president and president of sensors and compute at Aptiv.

The challenge for OEMs and their suppliers is that these systems must work reliably across a vast range of real-world conditions and testing them physically is slow, expensive and limited in scope.

To address this, rFpro has launched the AV Elevate In Cabin add-on package, which enables automotive OEMs, Tier 1s and sensor developers to tune, train and test driver and occupant monitoring systems in simulation to improve the speed and consistency of in-cabin testing.

Hands-free driving

Hands-Free Drive Assist is designed to make highway driving more comfortable and can assist with steering, acceleration and braking on compatible highways. It is available for vehicles equipped with DreamDrive 2 Pro.

Hands-Free Lane Change Assist can guide the vehicle into an adjacent lane upon a turn signal made by the driver, only when it is safe to do so; and Automatic Lane Change can also initiate passing maneuvers to overtake slower traffic during highway driving.

Progress in autonomous vehicle development no longer depends on larger budgets or fleets, but on extracting meaningful insights from real-world testing and simulation. The focus is on validating how autonomous systems respond to rare and complex scenarios that may occur only infrequently in real-world driving.

To meet this challenge, Kodiak says it has adopted two tools that accelerate the pace, depth and precision of safety engineering to deliver clear, compelling evidence of the safety of Kodiak Driver.

Chinese auto maker Xpeng commissioned independent research agency Improof Research to conduct a quantitative study of public attitudes toward artificial intelligence and physical AI across six European countries, alongside a reference sample from major Chinese cities. The survey fieldwork was carried out between May 1 and 14, 2026.
