Radar specialist Bitsensing has announced that it signed a memorandum of understanding with IKIO Technologies at the 2025 Suwon ITS Asia-Pacific ForumĀ in South Korea that marks its official entry into the Indian intelligent transportation system (ITS) market. The MoU is intended to pave the way for the deployment of AI-powered traffic monitoring technology in India, and begins with a pilot on Delhi-Mumbai expressway.
Bitsensing and IKIO will jointly implement a high-performance traffic solution combining its TIMOS sensors, a local edge server and an AI-based analytics server. This deployment mirrors Bitsensingās implementation in Verona, Italy, as well as South Korea.
āOver the past several years, weāve built trust in complex and varied road environments,ā said Jae-Eun Lee, CEO at Bitsensing. āITS Suwon 2025 provided the perfect stage to formalize our partnership with IKIO Technologies. Together, weāre excited to bring our field-proven sensing and AI capabilities to India ā adapting them to meet local needs and collaborating to support the countryās evolving transportation infrastructure.ā
TIMOS is an intelligent transportation system (ITS) sensor that combines radar, camera and edge AI technologies to monitor up to 256 vehicles simultaneously across eight lanes, including curved road segments and in low-visibility conditions. When used with TraXight, Bitsensingās AI-powered traffic analytics platform, the system can support monitoring of vehicle presence, average speed, traffic violations and congestion trends to support traffic management and response efforts.
IKIO Technologies designs and manufactures energy-efficient lighting and smart infrastructure products for industrial, commercial and urban applications. Its offerings include smart meters, CCTV cameras and various electronic and automotive components.
āIndia is rapidly scaling its smart mobility infrastructure,ā Lee added. āWe also see great opportunity to collaborate with Indiaās top-tier research institutions through AI integration and jointly develop localized ITS solutions that deliver both performance and reliability.ā
Sunil Kumar Mishra, CSO of IKIO Technologies, said, āThrough this MOU, we look forward to introducing advanced, field-proven ITS technology of Bitsensing for Indian requirements. Indian government and transport authorities are focussed to improve road safety, commutation and logistics speed for city, inter-city and inter-state transportation.
“Bitsensingās ITS solutions in Korea and Europe got good appreciation from state and federal government transport authorities and are expected to become indispensable tools for road safety with speed through smooth traffic movement across India.
“This collaboration, which also involves manufacturing ofĀ ITS solutions and components in India for global markets on attaining the size and big orders along with customised development, will enable us to deliver innovative, high-performance solutions tailored to Indiaās unique road environments and will add another feather in Indiaās Make in India for the World initiative of Honāble Prime Minister Narendra Modi.ā
Both companies plan to expand their collaboration across additional highways and urban regions in the coming years.
