Olli the autonomous shuttle has been deployed to two university campuses to transport students.
The autonomous shuttle manufactured by Local Motors has been driving around the International Training Centre of the International Labour Organization (ITCILO) in Turin, Italy, and the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia.
Olli is equipped with AutoDrive autonomy kit provided by US software firm Robotic Research, which allows the vehicle to think, perceive and navigate in mixed-traffic conditions.
Robotic Research’s engineers were on-site in Italy and Saudi Arabia to oversee the programs.
In Saudi Arabia, Olli travelled on a 1.9-mile horseshoe route circling the campus, including four loading zones. In Italy, the route was on campus and included four loading zones.
