Continental creates online platform for software solutions

Technology company Continental has created an online platform to automate and standardize software development and integration into vehicles.

Continental Cooperation Portal allows car makers and suppliers to save time and money in the development process, reduce costs for all parties and increase software quality.

According to Continental, it is creating the conditions for the development of connected vehicles whose electronic architecture focuses on high-performance computers and replaces the traditional distributed control unit architecture.

It added that as modern vehicles can use software from up to 50 suppliers, the portal cuts the to-ing and fro-ing with all involved, reducing the number of errors. The platform also reduces the need for correction loops and frees up capacity for implementing other control unit functions.

Johann Hiebl, head of Continental’s connected car networking business unit, said, “By developing the Continental Cooperation Portal, we have created a tool for implementing software and services from a wide range of providers in vehicle servers. As a system integrator and strategic partner, we are working with manufacturers to meet the challenges of the increasing complexity of software integration in modern vehicles.”

The Continental Cooperation Portal can be customized for each software project, with documents such as logs and manuals being saved.
