Software Engineer (Simulation)

At dRISK we believe that the future of autonomous driving depends on using simulation at scale to test AV stacks on edge case scenarios. To expand our own simulation capabilities and support our customers in setting up simulation-based validation and verification workflows, we are seeking an experienced software engineer who understands the role of simulation for training and testing AI systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with AV simulation tools and/or game engines. Expertise with real-time raytracing, optical sensor models and signal processing are a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Use state-of-the-art AV simulation software (e.g. dRISK Scenario Gym, Nvidia DRIVE Sim, rFpro, CARLA) to run edge case traffic scenarios and conduct safety testing
  • Work closely with customers to set up and maintain bespoke simulation workflows
  • Work hand-in-hand with AI Engineers to generate training data for AI
  • Enable simulation at scale, e.g. through cloud deployments
    Build new simulation features, such as realistic vehicle dynamics and pedestrian animations
  • Assess strengths and limitations of specific simulation setups
  • Stay up-to-date with third-party AV simulation products

Skills:

  • Experience with AV simulation tools (e.g. Nvidia DRIVE Sim, rFpro, CARLA) and/or game engines (e.g. Unity, Unreal)
  • Experience with 3D asset creation (e.g. in Blender or Houdini)
  • Experience with setting up scalable simulation workflows
    Coding skills in Python, C# or C++ are a strong plus
  • Experience with building custom render pipelines and shaders is a plus
  • Experience with computer vision and machine learning frameworks (e.g. PyTorch, Tensorflow) is a plus
