Two weeks after announcing its planned launch in Croatia, Pony.ai has begun commercial robotaxi service in the capital of Zagreb, marking Europe’s first operational robotaxi service.
This commercial rollout is powered by a joint collaboration among Pony.ai, Uber and Verne, a Rimac Group company. Operating daily from 7:00am to 9:00pm, the service initially spans approximately 90km2 across the wider Zagreb city center area, including Zagreb Airport. Home to a large number of local residents and international tourists, Zagreb now offers easy access to Pony.ai’s seventh-generation Robotaxis via the Verne app, with availability on the Uber app coming soon.
Zagreb features complex driving scenarios, including narrow, winding streets, unique traffic regulations and a mix of old and new neighborhoods from medieval and modern eras. By handling these challenges, this commercial rollout validates the technological adaptability of Pony.ai’s autonomous driving solution.
