RoboSense lidars selected for WeRide and Geely’s Robotaxi GXR

RoboSense’s digital lidar sensors, the EM4 and fully solid-state E1, will be integrated into the Robotaxi GXR, jointly developed by WeRide and Zhejiang Farizon New Energy Commercial Vehicle Group, a subsidiary of Geely. Production of the vehicle is scheduled to begin in Q3 2026, with 2,000 units planned for domestic and international markets.

The GXR is equipped with WeRide’s latest Gen8 autonomous driving suite, built on the company’s Sensor Suite 8.0 (SS8.0). This includes RoboSense’s thousand-beam-level digital lidar EM4 as the primary sensor, and the E1 fully solid-state digital lidar for blind-spot detection, providing redundancy and enhanced reliability in operation.

Launched in early 2025 as the world’s first digital lidar, the EM4 can be customized with up to 2,160 beams. The sensor delivers a 17-fold increase in point-cloud density and a detection range of up to 600m, giving the GXR over 70% more reaction time for decision-making in high-speed scenarios.

The E1 lidar offers a 120° x 90° field of view and is the industry’s only mass-produced, automotive-grade solid-state digital lidar designed to eliminate near-field blind spots. Together, the EM4 and E1 provide a combination of long-range precision and 360° near-field coverage, supporting reliable operation even in challenging weather conditions such as heavy rain or dense fog.
