WorldAutoSteel has outlined its plans for launching Steel E-Motive, a vehicle concept for Mobility as a Service (MaaS). Steel E-Motive aims to make autonomous ridesharing and ride-hailing vehicles more cost effective and sustainable through the use of advanced high-strength steel (AHSS) products and technologies.
To show how steel can play a critical role in achieving a zero emission transportation future, WorldAutoSteel is making its Steel E-Motive (SEM1) portfolio of materials and methods available to international OEMs to support the development and production of the next-generation of efficient, economic and sustainable vehicles, which could reduce in-use emissions by up to 86% when used with renewable energy contributions and high occupancy rates of three or more passengers.
WorldAutoSteel states that the Steel E-Motive range can be manufactured using existing global manufacturing and supply resources, and that production could start as soon as 2030.
Delegates attending events including CAR MBS in Michigan (August 1-3), EuroCarBody in Bad Nauheim, Germany (October 17-19) and CoMotion in Los Angeles, California (November 14-16) will be able to see a 3D-printed prototype of the company’s SEM1 – a four-seater passenger concept designed for urban commuting.
