Daimler also participates in Baidu&#8217;s Apollo AV programme.</p>
<p>Daimler has been a part of Apollo since 2017, developing AV technology and promoting the drafting of related laws and regulations. The two companies have agreed to strengthen their partnership and explore new ways to improve vehicle connectivity.</p>
<p>Dr Dieter Zetsche, chairman of the board of management of Daimler AG and head of Mercedes-Benz Cars, said, &#8220;Automated driving and connectivity are progressing at an unprecedented rate in China, and our continued success depends not only on staying ahead of these trends but on leading them.</p>

Hyundai will also participate in Baidu&#8217;s Apollo AV programme.</p>
<p>The first phase of the partnership focusses on the development of a connected car service that provides a range of in-car content, such as real-time traffic status and information about the user&#8217;s destination.</p>
<p>The two companies will also work on integrating Baidu&#8217;s Xiaodu In-Car OS into Hyundai models. Xiaodu uses AI to control the dashboard, smart rear-view mirror and infotainment of a car, in addition to voice controls for a wide range of actions including ventilation and door locks.</p>

<p>&#8220;We hope this deepened cooperation will bring Chinese consumers intelligent and comfortable product experiences. Our aim is to accelerate the development of autonomous driving technologies that align with the Chinese market.&#8221;</p>
<p>Klaus Fröhlich, member of the board of management of BMW AG for development, said, &#8220;Strong ties between automotive and tech leaders are our key to success in the marathon towards autonomous driving.</p>

<p>Mobileye is an Israeli subsidiary of Intel corporation that develops vision-based advanced driver-assistance systems providing warnings for collision prevention and mitigation.</p>
<p>RSS is a system of formulas that aim to replicate humans&#8217; perception of dangerous situations so that an AV can deal with such situations caused by human drivers and not cause any themselves. Baidu will now use RSS for its Apollo AV open-source programme.</p>
<p>Weihao Gu, general manager of Baidu&#8217;s intelligent driving unit, said, &#8220;Our team recognises the value and critical role that Mobileye&#8217;s RSS model plays in safely deploying autonomous driving.</p>
