ISA, which uses camera and GPS data to read speed limit signs and communicate the prevailing limit to the driver, became mandatory on new vehicles sold in the UK and European Union from July 2024. The technology has the potential to reduce road casualties by helping drivers remain within posted speed limits. However, Thatcham Research’s findings suggest the current regulatory framework can leave gaps in how performance is captured, which may reduce driver confidence and lead some to disengage the system.

Built around an automotive-grade 77GHz sensor, the SR-1 continuously monitors the area behind and beside the motorcycle, alerting riders to hidden vehicles, unsafe lane changes, risky overtakes and fast-closing traffic.

Rather than adapting a car system for two wheels, Chigee engineered the SR-1 specifically around how motorcycles move through traffic. It runs four independent warning algorithms at once: blind-spot detection, lane-change assist, active overtaking alert and rear-collision warning. Each is tuned to a distinct riding scenario, with adjustable sensitivity.

Hands-free driving

Hands-Free Drive Assist is designed to make highway driving more comfortable and can assist with steering, acceleration and braking on compatible highways. It is available for vehicles equipped with DreamDrive 2 Pro.

Hands-Free Lane Change Assist can guide the vehicle into an adjacent lane upon a turn signal made by the driver, only when it is safe to do so; and Automatic Lane Change can also initiate passing maneuvers to overtake slower traffic during highway driving.

Chinese auto maker Xpeng commissioned independent research agency Improof Research to conduct a quantitative study of public attitudes toward artificial intelligence and physical AI across six European countries, alongside a reference sample from major Chinese cities. The survey fieldwork was carried out between May 1 and 14, 2026.

Centimeter-level positioning depends on continuous carrier phase lock. When that lock is interrupted – a routine occurrence in dense cities, under tree cover and in multipath-heavy environments – receivers suffer cycle slips and force the system to reinitialize. For advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), automated driving and robotics, these interruptions are the defining barrier to deployment at scale.

According to the company, Precise+ uses Focal Point’s Supercorrelation for precise global navigation satellite system (GNSS) positioning, improving performance in challenging environments: sub-meter performance in conditions where commercial receivers with live corrections deliver multimeter errors.

The robotaxi, built on the Xpeng GX platform, is China’s first production-ready, pre-assembled robotaxi model developed entirely with in-house technologies and engineered to L4 autonomous driving standards. Powered by four self-developed Turing AI chips, it reportedly delivers an industry-leading, effective onboard computing power of 3,000 TOPS.

In January 2026, Xpeng secured a road-testing permit for intelligent connected vehicles in Guangzhou, formally entering routine L4 public road testing. In March, the company established its robotaxi business unit to oversee product definition, R&D testing and operations.
