According to the company, the local 5G network across Subaru’s test course is the first to be used by a Japanese car maker. The network is trialling the use of cooperative driving automation.

The test track will utilize the fast and reliable connectivity provided by the local 5G SA network to accelerate automation and development. The center has commenced testing coordination control, including merging and other maneuvers by multiple automated vehicles and remote vehicle control.

The survey found that 41% of UK drivers are unclear about the purpose of ADAS features, such as automatic braking, and are unable to locate the ADAS sensors on their vehicles.

The findings also revealed that nearly 20% of drivers are unaware that obstructions like dirt or ice can reduce the effectiveness of safety-critical ADAS features, including autonomous emergency braking and reversing collision detection systems.

In response to the survey results, JLR has initiated efforts to raise driver awareness about these technologies.

The minibuses, which lack steering wheels, are monitored by safety personnel seated at the rear. According to an official from Hengqin’s Urban Planning and Construction Bureau, the minibuses utilize a 360° perception system powered by redundant sensors and sensor fusion algorithms, giving them the ability to operate without blind spots.

The tests have proceeded smoothly, with no accidents or human intervention required thus far. In addition, full-scale road testing of robotaxis has commenced. Under current regulations, these vehicles can carry passengers for demonstration purposes after completing 1,000km of road testing and are expected to begin commercial operations next month.

The project features a four-seater Aurrigo Auto-Pod and a larger 10-seater Aurrigo Auto-Shuttle.

Currently, passengers must either walk the 1.2km route between the terminal and the train station or use a shuttle bus, which incurs a charge if the Go-Hi app is not used. During the trial, the Auto-Pod will cover approximately 750m of the journey, while the Auto-Shuttle will also provide transport around the University of the Highlands and Islands’ Inverness campus.
